Privacy Policy for FitnRizz

FitnRizz ("we," "our," "the App") is a wellness and fitness application that tracks your physical activity, such as steps and distance walked, and uses gamified features (like map-based territory progress and leaderboards) to help motivate consistency and long-term habit-building. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using FitnRizz, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address and display name through Firebase Authentication.
Location data. FitnRizz uses your device's GPS location to:
- Track your steps and distance walked
- Power the app's gamified progress features, such as map-based territory tracking, which turns your walks into visual progress as a way to help motivate consistent activity
- Calculate your position on leaderboards and rankings, if you choose to participate in them
Location data may be collected while the app is in use, and, if you enable background tracking, while the app is running in the background, so that your walks and activity are recorded continuously.
Activity and fitness data. Step counts, distance traveled, walking routes, and gamified progress data (such as territory/area covered over time).
Usage and analytics data. We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used — for example, which features are opened and how often. This may include device type, operating system version, app version, and general usage patterns. This data is not linked to your precise identity beyond your app account.
Push notification data. We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send notifications (e.g., territory lost, leaderboard changes). This requires a device token, which does not identify you personally beyond your app account.
Device information. Basic technical information such as device model, operating system, and app version, used for debugging and compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app functionality: step tracking, gamified progress features, and leaderboards
- To maintain and secure your account
- To send you app-related notifications, including motivational reminders
- To understand app usage and improve features (via aggregated analytics)
- To detect and prevent abuse, such as GPS spoofing or fraudulent activity data
3. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored using Google Firebase services, including Firestore (database) and Firebase Authentication. Firebase applies industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit. We apply Firestore security rules to restrict access to your data to your own authenticated account.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We share data only with:
- Google Firebase (our backend infrastructure provider — Firestore, Authentication, Cloud Functions, FCM, Remote Config, Analytics), which processes data on our behalf under Google's data processing terms.
- Other users, in limited form — your display name and leaderboard ranking/progress may be visible to other users of the app as part of its social and motivational features. Your precise real-time location and exact route history are not shared with other users.
We do not currently display third-party advertisements or share data with ad networks. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and, where required, you will be notified in-app.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see Section 7), we delete your associated data, except where we are required to retain limited information for legitimate purposes such as fraud prevention, security, or legal compliance — in which case we retain only what is necessary and for no longer than required.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- You can disable location permissions at any time via your device settings, though this will limit or disable core app features (step tracking, territory capture).
- You can request a copy of your data or ask questions about what we hold by contacting us through in-app settings.
- You can delete your account and associated data at any time (see Section 7).
7. Account and Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account directly within the app: go to Settings → Delete Account and confirm the action. If you no longer have the app installed, you can view the instructions on our Delete Account Request Page.
15-day grace period: When you request deletion, your account is scheduled for deletion rather than deleted instantly. You will have 15 days to change your mind: if you log back into the app at any point during this period, the deletion request is automatically cancelled and your account and data are fully restored. If you do not log in again during the 15-day period, your account and all associated data (activity history, location history, and territory data) are permanently deleted at the end of the period.
Deletion at the end of the grace period is permanent and cannot be undone.
8. Children's Privacy
FitnRizz is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us through the app so we can delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, we will notify you in-app.
